GMC is back with a serious update to its all-electric supertruck—and if you thought the Hummer EV was already a beast, just wait until you see what’s coming in 2026. The latest Hummer EV Pickup and SUV models are tougher, smarter, and quicker than ever, thanks to trail-focused tech like the new King Crab Mode, eye-watering 0–60 performance, and even bidirectional charging to help out a buddy (or your house) when power runs dry.
Introducing King Crab Mode: Next-Level Rear Steering
If you’ve ever needed to navigate a tight canyon trail or wedge your way between boulders, you know maneuverability is king. GMC just gave the Hummer EV a new crown with King Crab Mode, a next-gen evolution of the already impressive four-wheel steering system.
Here’s how it works: When activated, King Crab turns the front and rear wheels in opposite directions and then spins the rear wheels at a quicker speed than the front. This allows the Hummer pivot, dodge, and crawl with unmatched precision as the rear whips around obstacles quicker than the front. No other 4×4 on the planet offers this level of rear-steer agility, making tight trails, switchbacks, and rock gardens feel more like an obstacle course in your backyard. Plus, it should allow for some seriously wicked donuts.
Already own a Hummer EV? Never fear. This update isn’t just for new buyers. King Crab Mode is coming as an over-the-air (OTA) update for all 2022 to 2025 Hummer EVs later this year.
Carbon Fiber Edition: The Fastest GMC Hummer EV Yet
Also new for 2026: the Hummer EV Carbon Fiber Edition, a limited-run version of the Pickup and SUV that dials up the power and drops jaws at every corner.
With a 24-module battery pack under the… hood?… this edition rockets from 0 to 60 mph in a mind-bending 2.8 seconds. That’s supercar speed, in an all-electric off-road truck, weighing more than 9,000 pounds, built to crawl boulders and sling mud. It’s not just software magic either. GMC has refined the hardware and propulsion system for performance that’s as real-world rugged as it is lightning fast.
Look-wise, the Carbon Fiber Edition comes dressed to impress with a unique Magnus Gray Matte paint, Velocity Ember interior, 22-inch carbon fiber black wheels, and all-terrain tires. Carbon fiber accents are found on the mirrors and skid plates. While black emblems and a power tonneau cover (on pickup) finish out the package that is a bold, dark take on the rugged Hummer. GMC says only a limited number will be produced but hasn’t indicated what that figure may be.
Charging, Sharing, and Powering Your Basecamp
For adventurers who camp off-grid or help friends in a pinch, the 2026 Hummer EV introduces bidirectional charging. This means you can send power to not only to other EV but can also be setup to back feed electricity directly into your home. The Hummer EV can also export power through an accessory box to keep your whole campsite running.
New Looks, Same Tough GMC Hummer EV DNA
For 2026, GMC adds two new paint colors, Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte, plus new interior themes, Granite Drift and Stealth Eclipse, for a fresh feel inside and out. It’s everything you expect from a premium off-road machine with a modern, high-tech edge.
Coming Summer 2025
Production begins this summer at GM’s Factory ZERO in Detroit-Hamtramck, home to GMC’s all-electric truck lineup. Pricing and range estimates will drop closer to launch, but one thing’s clear: the 2026 Hummer EV is redefining what it means to go off-road in the electric era.
